Hillsborough cancels classes, board meeting

Hillsborough schools will be closed Tuesday so they can be used as emergency storm shelters, district spokesman Stephen Hegarty told the Gradebook. Officials have not decided whether classes will take place Wednesday.

The Hillsborough School Board also will not meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday, as originally scheduled, because of Tropical Storm Fay. The board's next meeting on the calendar is a final budget hearing at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4.
