Just because it's funny

Don't know how many of you are King of the Hill fans. Having spent eight years in Texas, I find it a laugh riot. And this past week, while watching it I thought of you.

Think of the Gradebook readers while watching Sunday evening cartoons? Absolutely. Because this one poked fun - and not so gently - at your favorite federal law, No Child Left Behind.

In this episode, called "No Bobby Left Behind," young Bobby Hill (shown at left) and other low performers at Tom Landry Middle get shepherded into special ed by the school's hapless principal, who comes to realize his school faces sanctions if it can't get a passing mark on the upcoming state annual assessment. Let's just say the kids aren't so dumb as to not understand what's going on, and they take full advantage.
