FAMU-FSU engineering college lauded for diversity

The engineering college shared between FSU and FAMU, the state's only historically black public institution, will receive one of three national diversity awards presented by ABET, the national science and technology education accrediting agency.

FAMU-FSU's College of Engineering will get the 2009 Claire Felbinger Award for Diversity later this month in San Antonio, Texas, at an ABET summit.

“When the College was established in 1982, its mission was to attract and graduate a greater number of minorities and women in professional engineering, engineering teaching and research, and to attain national and international recognition of the college through the educational and research achievements and the professional service of its faculty and students,” said Ching-Jen Chen, dean of the engineering college. “We are meeting these goals through our accomplishments.”
