First candidate files for a Pinellas school board seat

Let the races begin.

The first candidate has filed to run for a Pinellas school board seat next year. Jessica Summers, 28, of Largo, filed with the supervisor of elections office to run for the District 2 at-large seat now held by Nina Hayden, who's running for state senate.

A press release says Summers has been a Pinella resident for nine years; served as president of the Bardmoor Elementary PTA from 2007-2009; and is now vice president of membership with the Ridgecrest Elementary PTA and program chair of the PTA County Council. She works at Brookdale Senior Living in physical therapy. She's married and has two childen in Pinellas public schools.
