Family invites Pasco principals to help sell its house

When school principals think about open houses, they generally have their annual campus meet-and-greets in mind.

One Pasco County family had a different thought for two school leaders.

The parents wanted them to come to their home on a Sunday to help sell it. The School Board recently reassigned their neighborhood from Seven Springs Middle and Mitchell High to River Ridge middle and high schools.

"The common theme has been that prospective buyers have expressed that they prefer the schools that were previously assigned to this neighborhood," the parents wrote, noting they did not share that view.

They added that they didn't expect the rezoning to have such an effect on the sale, and they invited the River Ridge principals to their open house.

Toni Zetzsche, the high school principal, politely declined.

"Thank you for inviting us, however, I will not be able to attend," she responded. "River Ridge is an amazing school. I would encourage families to visit us during normal school hours should they have any questions or wish to see our incredible campus."

District officials marveled at the request.

"36 years in this business and it is still keeping me in stitches," deputy superintendent Ray Gadd wrote in an email thread among them. "I'm rolling on the floor on this one."
