It was never going to be easy to cure overcrowding at Stowers Elementary School, and the Hillsborough County School District is changing its course.

This revised boundary change map leaves some of the students in Stowers instead of moving them to Boyette Springs Elementary, as was the case in this map.

"The proposed reassignment of Stowers Elementary students to Bevis and Pinecrest will only provide temporary relief to Stowers Elementary, and staff will continue to monitor contributing factors and evaluate methods to decrease the enrollments at Stowers during the redistricting plan for the 2017-18 school year," the district said in posting the revised map.

Factors that could affect the numbers include a planned gifted studies program at Boyette Springs.

Homeowners in East Hillsborough's FishHawk Ranch community have been circulating petitions and created a Facebook page to vent their concerns about the crowded conditions and planned rezoning plans. Stowers is one of the most crowded schools in the district.
