American Promise will be screened at Parent University

16

January

Since August, the Alliance for Public Schools and the Hillsborough County school district have been hosting Parent University sessions around the district. The typical format is a menu of classes on hot topics such as Common Core, STEM and cyber-bullying.

The session planned for Jan. 23 will be different.

Guests will screen American Promise, a Sundance award-winning documentary that follows two African-American students through 13 years of their lives and education.

The session, which includes a panel discussion, runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at Franklin Franklin Boys Preparatory Academy, 3915 21st Ave., Tampa. There is no child care this time. Visit HillsboroughParentU.org or call 813-272-4499 to sign up.
