Application period in Pinellas opens Wednesday

It's here.

The application period for special programs (magnets, fundamentals) in Pinellas County Schools opens Wednesday (Jan. 8) and runs to Jan. 17. The process can be a little confusing, but there's a wealth of information available to parents to help make decisions. Students can rank up to five programs from first to fifth. Here are some tips for families.

The school district also has three separate nights coming up where families can get personal assistance with the application process. Those nights are:

6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday at Sandy Lane Elementary, Clearwater

6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Jan. 14, Gibbs High School, St. Petersburg

6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Jan. 16, Student Assignment Office, Largo (District headquarters is 301 4th St. SW)

For parents and students who still are undecided, some open houses still are going on. (Most were held in November and December.)
