Assistant superintendent vacancy draws high interest among Pasco district leaders
The retirement of longtime Pasco County school and district administrator Ray Bonti has generated a flurry of interest among his colleagues who'd like to follow in his footsteps.
Eleven applicants -- seven of whom currently work for the district -- have been scheduled to interview for the assistant superintendent of operations job. The person who takes this position will oversee a variety of departments, including transportation, new construction and athletics.
The hopefuls include Hudson Middle School principal Joe Musselman, purchasing director Nicole Westmoreland, strategic initiatives manager Kim Poe, transportation supervisor Tad Kledzik, employee relations director Betsy Kuhn, human resources director Christine Pejot, and information services manager Josh Nelson.
Other notable applicants include Paul Meeker, a lawyer for the firm that serves the School Board, and Steve Knobl, a former district teacher and principal.
Superintendent Kurt Browning has said he hopes to have a person in place before Bonti leaves at the end of June.
