Before you go: Review the Pinellas Bridging the Gap plan

The Pinellas County School District is holding four public forums to solicit community feedback about an update to its 2014 Bridging the Gap plan.

The first forum starts at 6 p.m. tonight at Largo High School. District officials have posted information about the plan online that you can review before attending. (Don't let that stop you from going, though. There also will be a presenation at the forum.)

The other forums will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 at Boca Ciega High, Nov. 1 at Gibbs High and on Nov. 15 at Tarpon Springs High.

The lawyers for the plaintiffs in the 50-year-old desegregation case against the school district expressed frustration last week that the meetings were scheduled without consulting them or other community groups, such as the NAACP. District officials, however, say they plan to hold additional meetings. They have offered to schedule those meetings at times and locations suggested by community groups.

If you are unable to attend one of the forums, you also can submit your comments electronically.
