Stowers Elementary School grew by 136 students this year, and now it's time for the Hillsborough County school district to redraw some boundaries.

A community meeting is planned Feb. 9, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the school, 13915 Barrington Stowers Drive in Lithia. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Serving the sprawling FishHawk Ranch community, Stowers is seeing the effects of economic recovery and an overall boom in southeast Hillsborough.

With 1,054 students as of the 20-day count, it's the second most populated elementary school (Sessums had 1,057.)

Officially, Stowers has room for 972 students.

FishHawk Ranch is still growing. Pulte Homes recently announced plans to add 98 single-family homes in the Central Park section.

The district says the planned changes do not affect students attending Stowers this year. But in future years, some would be moved to Bevis, Boyette Springs and Pinecrest Elementary, as shown on this map.

The district's website has more information on this and other proposed boundary changes, and more district news is at Newsdesk.
