Charter school group has eye on Pasco County, seeks community input
iLEAD Schools, a California-based charter school group, is deep into investigating whether to propose a Pasco County K-12 campus, and wants to know what residents think.
Jesse Leva, a spokesman for the group, told the Gradebook that iLEAD -- which stands for International Leadership Enterpreneurial Development Arts and Design -- has spent eight months reviewing its options in the county. Leaders have seen the need for a charter school that goes through high school, Leva said, as well as community interest in charter schools generally.
iLEAD is looking at the Zephyrhills area, which has easy access from Wesley Chapel and Dade City, where high schools are overcrowded. It would offer a STEAM and project-based learning model.
Before submitting an application to the Pasco school district, the company wants to hold an information session for families, where it will provide details and get feedback. That meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at Silverado Golf and Country Club in Zephyrhills.
