Acting principal selected for Pasco Gulf High School
With a simple sentence overnight on its Twitter account, Pasco County's Gulf High School has announced that Gwen Gideon, its assistant principal for International Baccalaureate, is now the school's acting principal.
Gideon, who joined the school in 2009 from Marchman Technical, has two master's degrees and certification in vocational supervision. She takes over after Steve Knobl resigned to become a dean at Rasmussen College in New Port Richey.
She was not, however, an applicant for the permanent position. Only two district assistant principals — Kim Davis at Anclote High and Angie Murphy at Mitchell High — put their names in.
"Gwen has been a principal before and is in our pool," district spokeswoman Summer Romagnoli told the Gradebook. "She is just the go-to person in the interim, as she was not interested in the job."
