Amendment 8 supporters at St. Pete High tomorrow

What do state Rep. Will Weatherford (a conservative Republican) and Pinellas school board member Linda Lerner (a staunch Democrat) agree on? Probably not much. But with Amendment 8, they're on the same page.

Both of them will be at St. Petersburg High at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow for a press conference in support of the amendment, which would put some flexibility into Florida's constitutional limits on class size.

Joining them: Florida Education Commissioner Eric J. Smith; Pinellas Superintendent Julie Janssen; two other Pinellas school board members: Carol Cook and Peggy O'Shea; Stavros Institute chairman Gus Stavros; and St. Petersburg High principal Al Bennett.

Other supporters will be holding a similar press conference in West Palm Beach tomorrow.
