Ammons legacy lives on in N.C.

15

January

Ammons North Carolina Central University -- the place that current Florida A&M president James Ammons ran before returning to Tallahassee -- has agreed to repay the feds $1.1-million of more than $3-million the school gave out in financial aid for ineligible programs.

The News & Observer reports that the deal results from Ammons' creation of an unauthorized satellite campus at a church in Georgia.

Ammons has taken the blame for the situation but has yet to explain what happened, the N&O notes. The situation has not affected his status at FAMU. (See also our past FAMU posts on this issue and others.)
