And the nominees for Hernando teacher of the year are...
The Hernando County School District Teacher of the Year will be announced Jan. 25 at a dinner hosted by the Hernando County Education Foundation.
The past two Hernando teachers of the year have both come from Weeki Wachee High School, which is now in its third year. Both winners were English teachers.
Here are the names of the 23 teachers selected as teachers of the year from their respective schools:

Melissa Parker, 26, music specialist for K-5 at Eastside Elementary
Kimberly Kessler, sixth-12th-grade exceptional student education inclusion teacher at
Magen Schlechter, 29, social studies teacher at
Roseann Barile, 29, 10-12th-grade math teacher at F.W. Springstead High.
Noreen Shaukat, 35, ninth-12th-grade science teacher at Hernando High
Dana Natale, fourth-grade teacher at J.D. Floyd K-8
Victoria Jasztal, 30, fourth-grade teacher at Moton Elementary
Ian Wald, 25, digital video production teacher at Nature Coast Technical High
