Another campus cell phone tower for Pasco schools
Often times, there's a public outcry when Hillsborough County schools propose putting a cell phone tower on a campus.
Plans to do so at Pasco schools rarely get a raised eyebrow. Less than half a dozen people complained when news emerged of a tower to rise at John Long Middle School in Wesley Chapel, and the district has gotten almost no communication -- pro or con -- over the latest pending contract to put one at Gulf Trace Elementary in Holiday.
The district stands to make $15,000 a year in rent, with an annual 4 percent increase and an added $6,000 for every tenant that uses the tower. It's a deal similar to those at Long Middle, Fivay High and Sunlake High.
It's also generated no calls or e-mails to the superintendent's offices. If the past is any guide, the agreement is likely to win board approval on Tuesday without any comment.
