And then there were just two for chancellor...and the money is still on former Lt. Gov. Frank Brogan

FSU Associate Professor Steve MacNamara tells the Gradebook he withdrew from the pool of chancellor finalists being interviewed today in Tampa because "I thought it was the best thing to do, and I think they have two good people in there."

"At the end of the day, I think Frank Brogan will make a fine chancellor. I think a lot of people will be happy to have him back in Tallahassee, and I’ll be one of them."

MacNamara's decision Thursday to bow out came one day after fellow finalist Thomas Snyder of Indiana's Ivy Tech Community Colleges withdrew, saying he wants to stay at Ivy Tech during what he views as a critical time for growth.

That leaves the BOG with just two finalists, FAU's Brogan still the frontrunner, thanks to his career spent in education and politics. Also under consideration is Roderick W. Chu, former longtime chancellor for Ohio's state universities. The BOG will select one of the two by the end of today.
