Another longtime Pasco County principal to retire
When classes began in August, Trinity Elementary School principal Kathy Rushe had no plans to retire.
Now she does. Her last day will be Jan. 11.
"It's just time," Rushe told the Gradebook. "I've been at this since 1974."
Rushe, whose late husband Chuck ran for superintendent in 2004, looks forward to reading, traveling, spending time with grandchildren and other "good things." She intends to remain in Pasco County, where she has lots of family including another generation of educators. Her daughter, Karyn Kinzie, is assistant principal of Sand Pine Elementary.
"She's going to be a great asset to this district," Rushe said.
The district advertised for a new principal at Trinity this morning. The deadline to apply is Dec. 1.
