Bay-area students get in on the RNC act
The Republican National Convention means more than diverted bus routes and shut-down schools for some Bay-area students. They're getting the opportunity to put their mark on the event in small but key ways.
Today, a group of Gaither High School students helped inflate the 120,000 red, white and blue balloons that will drop on Mitt Romney's head when he accepts the nomination.
Next week, two dozen Land O'Lakes High School culinary arts students will work in the convention kitchens making sandwiches, washing dishes and taking whatever other assignments come their way. They're the only high school students to get this opportunity.
"You don't get stuff like this all the time," said senior Alexa Vaughan, 18. "This is a big event."
Let us know if you have information about other schools participating in RNC activities.
