Board entitled to question Gilzean's Graduates, attorney says
In response to questions raised by board member Linda Lerner, Pinellas County school board attorney Jim Robinson weighed in on issues surrounding school board member Glenton Gilzean's creation of "Gilzean's Graduates."
"The members accept Mr. Gilzean('s) assurance that his use of staff was not in furtherance of his campaign, but it cannot be denied that to the public it may appear otherwise," he wrote in an email. "Board bylaws would have members avoid even the appearance of impropriety, and you are entitled to ask whether that was done in this instance."
The full email is attached below.
Gilzean, who was appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the District 7 school board seat in January, is now in a crowded field to keep the position. Primary elections are Aug. 14 with the general election slated for Nov. 6.
