Board gives Janssen two months to improve

LARGO — Pinellas County school superintendent Julie Janssen has two months to improve before school board members begin talking about "next steps."

The seven-member board spent four and a half hours Thursday airing their concerns about Janssen's performance as head of the 103,000-student district.

Robin Wikle, the board member who initially called for the discussion, said during the meeting that she's looking for immediate results.

"I'm prepared to continue the contract with you" Wikle said, "or ask for a resignation within the next couple of months without results. That's not what I wanted to do when I came on the board."
