Books? They promised books? Yes they did.
A footnote to Thursday's Hillsborough County School Board discussion about the troubled -- more precisely, underfunded --- Urban Teaching Academy.
Board chairwoman Candy Olson said she did not recall seeing anything in the grant that promised the graduates of this high school magnet program book funds when they went to college. Tuition only, she recalled. No books. Weeks ago, when we first reported the problems with the scholarship fund, Hillsborough Education Foundation President Philip Jones also said he was not aware of a promise of books.
So here's where we set the record straight.
