Boundary committee recommends lines for east Pasco middle and high schools
A committee of Pasco County parents and school district officials has arrived at its proposal to redraw attendance zones for middle and high schools in the east part of the county.
The proposals aim to reduce crowding at John Long Middle and Wiregrass Ranch High.
Initially, the talk of new boundaries drew concerns from residents of the Seven Oaks subdivision of Wesley Chapel. In the end, that subdivision was not touched. The proposals would:
- Move students in the Cox Elementary zone out of Wesley Chapel High and Weightman Middle, and put them into Pasco High and Pasco Middle.
- Take children in the New River area including Ashley Pines and move them to Weightman and Wesley Chapel.
- Transfer students living in the Morris Bridge area to Stewart Middle and Wesley Chapel.
The Zephyrhills High School and Centennial Middle School zones remained unchanged.
The full proposal is supposed to be on the district website in the morning. Public hearings on the recommendations are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 30 at Wesley Chapel High and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at Stewart Middle.
