Browning to take more time to plan Pasco district organization

Kurt Browning won't be revealing his full plans to reorganize the Pasco school district organization on Wednesday, despite rumors that the news was imminent.

"There is not going to be any major announcement from me regarding staff changes," Browning told the Gradebook.

Browning, the expected next superintendent of the district, met with department heads over the past three weeks. He had said he would reveal his plans some time in mid-October. He did not set a date, but the chatter came to anticipate details tomorrow.

After talking with so many people, though, Browning said he wanted to spend more time preparing. "I want to make sure I get it right," he said.

It's understandable, he added, that employees might be anxious about their job status when he arrives in November. But he encouraged everyone to be patient and expect him to treat them fairly. If people are so worried about losing their jobs that they can't wait, he suggested, perhaps they should look for a new job now.
