Is Cathi Martin reconsidering resignation?
Only two weeks ago, Pasco County School Board member Cathi Martin announced she would resign her position because of health reasons.
Now the county's top Democrat says Martin is "rethinking."
"This is being blown up as a way to force her to leave, and it is something she has not chosen," Alison Morano, chairwoman of the Pasco Democratic Party, told the Gradebook. "I believe it is because of undue pressure that she [sent the resignation announcement]. ... I do believe she's being treated unfairly."
Rep. John Legg, one of the three lawmakers who has called for Martin's removal, told the Gradebook that politics were not a driving force to try to get Martin off the board. Her performance warranted that, he said.
"If [Morano] wants to go on the record and defend Cathi Martin, I hope she does. It will make the Democratic Party look even worse," he said.
Martin did not return calls seeking comment.
