A change in the Gradebook lineup
We've had some reporter shifts on the education team, and we thought you should know who's bringing you the news.
Amy Hollyfield has taken up the role of the Times' education reporter in Tallahassee. She'll be covering as many committees as the calendar allows, and updating the Gradebook regularly on key actions in the Legislature. You can e-mail ideas her way at email@example.com.
Tom Marshall will slide into the Hillsborough County schools beat as soon as the bosses find someone new to keep an eye on Hernando County schools. Look for lots of interesting Hillsborough news on the Gradebook as Tom jumps in. You can reach Tom at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Some readers have noted Tom Tobin's absence from the Gradebook lately. He's on a special assignment, but we've been assured that Tom will be back. In the meantime, veteran Pinellas education reporter Donna Winchester will continue to cover Pinellas schools. Send your thoughts about Pinellas schools to Donna at email@example.com.
The rest of us -- that would be Jeff Solochek and Ron Matus -- remain as we ever were, bringing you whatever education news we can collect from the Tampa Bay area and around Florida. We're not moving.
One last thing. Congratulations to our team of education reporters Ron Matus, Donna Winchester and Letitia Stein, who joined with computer-assisted reporting guru Connie Humburg to nab a second-place award in the National Education Reporting contest at papers over 100,000 circulation. They did it with their work on teacher quality.
