Coming soon: a new assistant superintendent and communications director for Pasco schools
It has been more than three months since Pasco schools superintendent Heather Fiorentino dismissed assistant superintendent Ray Gadd and communications director Maureen Moore, and said she planned to take the two jobs in new directions.
Fiorentino has yet to announce her full intentions for each post. But she has told the Gradebook that each will be filled -- soon.
"We're going to be advertising shortly," she said of the assistant superintendent for support services job, whichhas overseen construction, maintenance, property, transportation and related matters.
As for the communications job, which already drew about a dozen applicants, Fiorentino said interviews are about to be scheduled and that the top brass is still writing interview questions. (Any suggestions?)
Still up in the air is whether the School Board has any plans to de-fund the jobs. Board members made noise about such a move over the summer, but when budget time rolled around, they left the jobs and their pay rates intact.
The former job occupants, meanwhile, have moved on. Moore now runs Athenian Academy, a charter school in New Port Richey, and Gadd is awaiting word on whether he snagged the top post at Pasco's economic development commission.
