Counter-rallies planned for Romney event at Land O'Lakes High
While Land O'Lakes High School welcomes Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for a Saturday evening rally, some school related groups have other plans in mind.
A group of students has organized Students Against Romney on Facebook, with plans to protest outside the event with signs and speeches. They tout themselves as a group opposed to Romney's stances, regardless of whether members support President Obama, Libertarian Gary Johnson or whomever.
Tiger Pride, the political action committee of the United School Employees of Pasco, also is preparing a counter-rally. Participants intend to focus their message on making education a priority. They're passing out Obama-Biden t-shirts and signs until they're gone.
Preparations leading to the Romney rally have caused some consternation that policies are being broken and special treatment is going to Republicans over Democrats. This comes on the heel of criticisms over voter registration efforts in the high schools by a group attached to the Democrats. The Romney event is to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at the school football field. What do you think about the way the district has handled political matters lately?
