Crist: Vouchers good

Pundits say Gov. Charlie Crist has distanced himself from the education policies of his lightning-rod predecessor, Jeb Bush. But there was Crist this afternoon, standing before a rally of 4,000 people in Tallahassee and proclaiming his support for a Jeb pet project: private-school vouchers. "We have a responsibility to ensure that all children, regardless of the financial resources of their parents, have the opportunity to realize their full potential," Crist said, according to a press release from the pro-voucher group that sponsored the rally. "Every child in Florida deserves an equal opportunity to obtain a high-quality education." Is the self-proclaimed people's governor out of step with "the people" on this one? (Not sure? Reread this story about a survey showing that people questioned the value of vouchers.)
