Dockery says governor-elect Scott not ready to rubber stamp SB 6

Florida teachers might fear the return of Senate Bill 6 under governor-elect Rick Scott.

State Sen. Paula Dockery, a SB 6 opponent and adviser to Scott, tells WUSF-FM that the newly elected governor isn't buying the whole bill.

"He's in favor of the concept of tying pay to merit and doing away with teacher tenure," Dockery, a Lakeland Republican, told the radio station. "But he's not in favor of being punitive to teachers, and he wanted teachers at the table discussing what the new version would look like."

Oddly, that sounds a bit like what Charlie Crist said as he vetoed the measure and then created his Task Force on Educational Excellence. Wonder what will happen to that committee and all the folks on it.
