(Don't) bring your daughters and sons to work

Not on the official date of April 26, at least.

This year's 20th anniversary commemoration of the day we share our jobs with our kids falls during the 2012 FCAT window. So in the Pasco County schools, at least, district employees are being asked to delay bringing their children to their schools and other offices.

"The children of our employees will be given the opportunity to participate in this activity on May 1, 2012," superintendent Heather Fiorentino wrote in a memo to all staff. "If you are interested in having your child participate at your work site, please request permission from your immediate supervisor.  Requests will be approved as long as there is no significant disruption to the workplace and it does not pose a safety concern."

The Hillsborough school district isn't taking the same stance. Spokeswoman Linda Cobbe said Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day will proceed on the national date. "It's only a makeup day for FCAT," she explained.
