Don't count Tampa's Inkwood Books among the fans of Clearwater's Kindle experiment

Popular Tampa independent bookseller Inkwood Books registered its disappointment over Clearwater High's Kindles-for-all-students experiment on its Facebook page today.

Reads the status update:

"Very disappointed that these issues are not even mentioned in coverage...Don't misunderstand - we are not arguing against e-books - that's an entirely separate discussion. But we can't ignore the iro...ny of a public school deciding to make a major purchase of hardware, and lock into buying books forever from, whose business plan is to have lower prices by AVOIDING COLLECTION OF THE... SALES TAX that pays for schools and teachers?!?!? As they aggressively fight any attempt to achieve a level playing field, remember that Inkwood doesn't CHARGE sales tax, but we do COLLECT it - as a service to the state, on behalf of everyone who enjoys any public service...or public employment. Are there any school board members or legislators paying attention?"
