Downtown Tampa school might re-arrange calendar during Republican convention
It's not official until the school board votes, but it looks like the Rampello K-8 Downtown Partnership School might call its kids back a week early in August, then close during the Republican National Conventiion.
The convention runs from Aug. 27-30. The school, with about 700 students, is right in the middle of downtown Tampa, where most of the convention activity will take place. The rest of the district returns to school on Tuesday, Aug. 21.
The district has considered several options for Rampello, including the possibility that kids will be housed temporarily in one or more different sites.
