Eckerd College to U.S. News: Bye-bye

The president of Eckerd College, the private liberal arts institution in St. Petersburg, is among a growing number of university leaders who plan to stop cooperating with U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings of colleges.

Donald Eastman, during a meeting of liberal arts college leaders in Maryland this week, joined the majority of presidents who said they will forgo participation in the much-read rankings.

Many families look to the U.S. News and other rankings when making college decisions, but public and private college leaders have complained for years that the ranking methods are flawed.
