Ed foundation member resigns to mull run against Janet Clark
Elliott W. Stern announced his resignation today from the Pinellas Education Foundation board of directors, saying he wanted to avoid the perception of a conflict of interest as he explores a run for Janet Clark's school board seat.
Stern is a retired executive from Raymond James. He was also the ed foundation's project manager for the Jacobson Culinary Arts Academy at Tarpon Springs High.
Here's the statement he emailed out today:
As many of you are aware, I am seriously exploring the opportunity to become a candidate for the At Large seat on the Pinellas County School Board, that is coming up at the next election. It is my intention to make sure the perception of “conflict of interest” does not become an issue.
It is with mixed feelings that I tender my resignation as a member of the Board Directors of the Pinellas Education Foundation. I am very appreciative of having been a member of the Board, which has provided me a vehicle to become involved in processes and projects to enhance public education in Pinellas County.
