A former school disrict employee has filed to run in this year's board election against longtime educator Doretha Edgecomb.

Henry Ballard, 61, will challenge Edgecomb to represent District 5 in central Tampa.

Ballard worked for the district until 2011 as a manager in its office of supplier diversity. Edgecomb, 69, joined the board in 2004 after a career as a teacher and administrator.

With Ballard's entrance, all incumbent members now face opposition. Two people are challenging Jack Lamb and seven are trying to unseat Carol Kurdell.
