Education savings accounts not fully baked yet, Florida House leader says
The Florida Senate might be moving ahead with education savings accounts for all children.
Don't look for the Florida House to follow suit, though.
Rep. Will Weatherford, the Wesley Chapel Republican who's next in line to become House speaker, tells the Gradebook that the idea, though intriguing, is not ready for prime time just yet.
"The House is focused on other priorities this year," Weatherford, who has supported several measures to expand school choice options, wrote in an e-mail. "That policy idea is very interesting but needs to cook a little longer before it comes out of the oven."
Maybe next year.
