Eight years for wife of ex-superintendent of Monroe schools
Monique Acevedo, the wife of ousted former Monroe County schools superintendent Randy Acevedo, is headed to prison after pleading guilty to stealing $413,000 from the school district while director of adult education, the Miami Herald reports.
She also was sentenced to 22 years of probation and ordered to pay restitution for the entire amount.
Randy Acevedo was removed from office after being found guilty of three counts of official misconduct for covering up his wife's activities. He's currently on probation.
