Endorsements: Do they matter in a school board race?

The Pinellas Classroom Teachers Association snubbed its own members to endorse incumbent School Board members. The United School Employees of Pasco, by contrast, recommended its own in two of three open seats.

The Hernando Classroom Teachers Association went the other way, backing challengers over incumbents in all three races.

In Pasco, District 4 candidate John Tracy last week announced the endorsements of several high profile Florida Republicans including state Senate president Jeff Atwater and former state Christian Coalition executive director Dennis Baxley.

And today outgoing Pinellas board member Mary Brown stepped out to endorse one of the hopefuls for her seat.

Over the course of the election cycle, we tell you about who supports whom. The candidates wear these lists like badges of honor. But do these endorsements matter to you?

If so, why? If not, what drives your decision of who to vote for? Just curious.
