FAMU: Another new face
Gov. Charlie Crist has selected Solomon "Chuck" Badger II, a retired public school teacher from Jacksonville, to fill one of the empty slots on Florida A & M University's board of trustees. Badger still must be confirmed by the Senate to take the three-year post, formerly held by W. George Allen.
Badger and the other trustees will have plenty to do in that time. FAMU has been wracked with one problem after another, from bad audits to turnover to payroll scandals. Meanwhile, the board that oversees the 11 state universities will be interviewing other potential trustees in coming weeks.
