FAMU trustee resigns
W. George Allen, a Jeb Bush appointee to the Florida A&M Board of Trustees, has resigned. Allen, a South Florida attorney and Florida A&M University alumnus, has served on the FAMU board since January 2005, including time on the Board of Governors' Task Force on FAMU Finance and Operational Control Issues. That's the group looking into the school's current financial problems. "While Mr. Allen served on the board, he was extremely dedicated to ensuring the future of his alma mater through enhancements and improved efficiencies," interim President Castell Vaughn Bryant said in a release. "We sincerely thank him for his service."
