The Florida A&M University Board of Trustees has moved to create an independent committee charged with exploring problems with hazing at the school, in the aftermath of a hazing-related student death.

The committee will not investigate that death or any other matters currently in the hands of law enforcement, the AP reports.

Gov. Rick Scott has called upon trustees to suspend FAMU president James Ammons during the many pending reviews. The trustees rejected that recommendation.
