FCAT committee coming to Tampa

Fcat If you can't get enough of the FCAT controversy, it's coming our way. The advisory committee that commissioner Jeanine Blomberg has brought together for advice on the high-stakes test's future will next meet Wednesday morning in Tampa. The DOE is still working out specifics like time and location, but the Tampa part is a definite. Local reps to the committee are Hillsborough superintendent MaryEllen Elia and her retired research and evaluation director, John Hilderbrand. They've been on a mission to revise the way the 10th-grade FCAT exams are evaluated, and it's just a matter of time before they broach the subject with the group, which first met in Orlando a week ago. We'll get you more details on the upcoming session as they become available.

UPDATE: The meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Audubon Room of the Grand Hyatt, 2900 Bayport Drive.
