Fifth candidate joins District 3 Pasco School Board race
Yet another hopeful has tossed her name into the ring for Pasco School Board District 3, hoping to replace retiring board member Cathi Martin.
The latest candidate is Melba Negron Hoover, a social worker in the school district's student services department. She has worked for the district since 1999.
Hoover is the fifth entrant in the race, joining real estate agent Cynthia Armstrong, developer Mike Ryan, lawyer Sallie Skipper and teacher Anthony Terranova. She's the 16th candidate to file for one of the four seats open in the August primary election.
How many will make it to the ballot? We'll get a better sense of that on May 17, when candidates who do not plan to pay the $1,456 filing fee must submit 2,944 signatures of registered voters to qualify. The final qualification date is June 18.
