Financial advisor files to run for Pasco County School Board
Bryan V. Williams, who has children attending Connerton Elementary and Land O'Lakes High, has opened an account to challenge Pasco School Board District 2 member Joanne Hurley. Hurley also has filed to seek reelection.
Williams, 45, describes himself as a financial advisor for Tampa Wealth Management, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and a full-time student at the University of Tampa.
"My efforts as a board member would center on serving all of the children in the community; one child is no more important than another," he said in an e-mail to the Gradebook. "We are a diverse community and have to celebrate that diversity. Our schools are here to serve the educational needs of all the children."
He stated that the board must focus on enhancing and enriching what happens in the classroom. He also said that everyone in the community must play a role.
"By working together we can all share in the knowledge and satisfaction that we have provided for the educational needs of all children, and have built a district where students, parents, teachers, and staff feel they are welcome and that they belong," Williams said.
The nonpartisan primary election is scheduled for Aug. 14.
