Florida Board of Education kicks off budget workshop
And they're off.
Florida Board of Education chairwoman Kathleen Shanahan opened today's budget workshop by warning that the day will be full, with a lot of listening and learning about education funding. You can pay attention by watching the webcast.
Shanahan welcomed commissioner Gerard Robinson with a cheerful, "Nothing like Day 2 spent on the budget."
Robinson said it's an honor to lead the department and to be an education standard bearer for the board, the Legislature, the governor and the school systems and students. He said his focus will include "colleges, careers, commerce and creativity" in the years ahead. Stay tuned for more.
