Florida Board of Education to set agenda for coming year
If you had any question about Florida's official direction when it comes to education, look no further than today's state Board of Education meeting agenda.
It also will take up legislative priorities that urge lawmakers to give extra help to charter schools, place more accountability measures on schools of education, and add more graduation requirements for high school students.
The board further will discuss a strategic plan that puts more emphasis on school choice, with a goal of doubling the numbers of students taking tax credit vouchers and attending charter schools. And it will review whether to appeal court decisions on lawsuits relating to teacher evaluations and tuition for children of illegal immigrants.
You can catch all the action (if there is any) by watching on the web here. The meeting starts at 8 a.m. Expecting any surprises?
