Florida education news: fired employees, higher grades, charter trip
FIRINGS: A couple Hillsborough school workers lost their jobs for campaigning on school grounds. But some of their supporters say the firings were political.
HIGHER GRADES: Eighteen schools in Pinellas County had incorrect school grades issued by the state this year. All 18 grades improved.
CHARTER TRIP: Ten students from a charter school in Miami-Dade County went to South Africa this summer to learn about geography and culture, the Miami Herald reports.
LOW PAY: Auditors aren't paid as well in Palm Beach County as in other school districts. The auditor fears that will cost the district good staff members, the Palm Beach Post reports.
UNIFORMS: The Lake School Board will consider whether to have students wear uniforms this coming year. The proposal has come under stiff opposition from parents, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
