Florida prepaid tuition founder: Raise hell

The outspoken Stanley Tate, founder of the popular Florida Prepaid College program, is ready to "raise  hell" over higher tuition and invites you to join him. He just launched a Web site,, as part of his fight against proposed "differential tuition" legislation (HB403 / SB762) that would allow the 11 state universities to raise undergraduate tuition by as much as 15 percent a year to generate more teaching and financial aid money for colleges.

Tate has vowed to spend boatloads of his own money to fight the measure, which he insists could make a college education too expensive for many Floridians to afford. He also says Prepaid would have to "more than double" the cost of its tuition and tuition differential plans.
